The motorbike journey from HCMC to Dalat through the central highlands is an unforgetable way to explore sourthern Vietnam's landscapes, history, and local life. The adventurebegins with a visit to the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels, where you'll gain insight into Vietnam's wartime history and the resilience of the Vietnamese people.
DAY 1: SAI GON → DONG XOAI : 150 KM
Leave the busy HCMC for Dong Xoai in the morning, the highlight of this last day is the Cu Chi tunnel, a historic area that shows how the North Vietnamese army was against the American and South Vietnamese armies during the Vietnam War. The tunnel located in the Cu Chi District of Ho Chi Minh City, is a vast underground network used by Viet Cong soldiers ( North Vietnam Comunism - VC) during the Vietnam War. Stretching over 250 kilometers, the tunnels played a crucial role as a hiding spot, supply route, and communication channel. The tunnel also contained living quarters, kitchens, storage rooms, and even hospitals, making them a self-sustained underground community. It was designed with multiple levels and narrow passages to prevent enemy penetration, and it had air vents camouflaged to resemble termite mounds for ventilation. The Viet Cong soldiers could emerge, attack, and disappear back into the tunnels, evading detection, some sections were even booby-trapped for added defense.
After visiting the Cu Chi Tunnel, we will return to our bike and ride to the countryside road for lunch. Starting on the Ho Chi Minh road which is the beginning road in the south to the Central Highland Way, we will stop at the historical site to visit, the broken bridge which was used for killing people during the French and American war and our guide will explain to you the history of this area. Relax on the hammock for a cup of coffee before getting back on our bike to Dong Xoai town.
Then keep going to Dong Xoai around 4:00 pm.
