DAY 1: HA NOI → BA BE LAKE: 200 KM

Scenic mountain roads, Ba Be Lake boat cruise, and an authentic homestay experience in a traditional Tay village.

Leave the bustling streets of Hanoi behind and embark on a scenic motorbike journey into the untouched landscapes of Northern Vietnam. Upon arrival at Ba Be National Park, discover one of Vietnam’s most spectacular natural treasures. DAY 2: BA BE LAKE TO BAN GIOC WATERFALL: 206 KM

After breakfast, set off on an unforgettable ride through the spectacular landscapes of Cao Bang Province. Today's journey follows winding mountain roads, passing through lush valleys, traditional farming communities, and some of the most scenic countryside in Northern Vietnam. Along the way, stop frequently to admire panoramic mountain vistas, cascading rice terraces, and peaceful rural villages.

One of the highlights of the day is a visit to Phuc Sen Village, a traditional Nung ethnic community famous for its centuries-old blacksmithing craft. Here, local artisans continue to hand-forge knives, farming tools, and household utensils using techniques passed down through generations.

Continuing toward the Chinese border, arrive at the magnificent Ban Gioc Waterfall, widely regarded as one of Vietnam’s most beautiful natural wonders. Stretching across the border between Vietnam and China, the waterfall creates a breathtaking scene as crystal-clear waters cascade over multiple tiers, surrounded by towering limestone mountains and emerald-green landscapes.

Today promises some of the most spectacular riding of the entire journey. Leaving Bao Lac behind, you'll travel along winding mountain roads that cut through the heart of the Dong Van Karst Plateau, a UNESCO Global Geopark renowned for its dramatic limestone landscapes and rich ethnic cultures.

The route takes you across some of Vietnam’s most iconic mountain passes, including the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, often considered the most breathtaking road in the country. Perched high above deep valleys and towering cliffs, the pass offers unforgettable panoramic views of the rugged mountains stretching endlessly across the horizon. Along the way, you'll also pass through Heaven Gate and several remote hill tribe communities, providing opportunities to learn about the traditions and daily lives of the H'Mong and other ethnic minorities who have adapted to this harsh yet beautiful landscape for generations.

One of today's highlights is a boat trip on the emerald waters of the Nho Que River. Flowing through the dramatic Tu San Canyon, the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia, the river journey offers a completely different perspective of the towering limestone cliffs that define this remarkable region.

DAY 5: DONG VAN TO HA GIANG: 140 KM

After breakfast, depart from Dong Van and begin your journey to Ha Giang City through the heart of the UNESCO-listed Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark. If your visit falls on a Sunday, you may have the opportunity to experience one of the region’s colorful ethnic markets, where H'Mong, Dao, Tay, and other minority groups gather to trade livestock, local produce, traditional clothing, and handmade goods. More than just a marketplace, it is an important social event that has connected mountain communities for generations.

Continue riding through dramatic mountain scenery and stop at the historic Vuong Family Palace in Sa Phin Village. Once home to the influential H'Mong King, this fascinating landmark showcases a unique blend of Chinese, French, and H'Mong architecture while offering insight into the region’s rich history.

The adventure continues along some of Northern Vietnam’s most scenic roads, including the famous Tham Ma Pass, known for its winding curves and breathtaking views over limestone mountains and deep valleys. DAY 6: HA GIANG TO SAPA: 220 KM

Ride scenic mountain roads, explore remote ethnic villages, visit the Vietnam–China border, and enjoy one of Northern Vietnam’s most spectacular motorbike routes to Sapa.

After breakfast, continue your Northern Vietnam motorbike adventure as you leave Ha Giang and follow the beautiful mountain landscapes of the northeast. After approximately 40 kilometers, turn onto smaller backroads leading toward Pho Rang, where the scenery changes dramatically from the rocky karst mountains of Ha Giang to lush valleys, rolling green hills, rice fields, and traditional ethnic minority villages.

This section of the journey offers some of the most authentic riding experiences in Northern Vietnam. Traveling along quiet countryside roads, you'll pass remote communities and enjoy breathtaking views rarely seen by mainstream tourists. After lunch in Pho Rang, continue your motorcycle tour toward Lao Cai on a scenic winding route surrounded by mountains and fertile valleys.

Before reaching Sapa, stop at the Vietnam–China border in Lao Cai for a short visit and photo opportunity. From here, begin the final ascent to Sapa, one of the most famous mountain destinations in Vietnam. The road climbs steadily to an altitude of over 1,600 meters above sea level, offering incredible views of terraced rice fields, misty mountain peaks, and picturesque valleys.

DAY 7: SAPA TO MU CANG CHAI: 160 KM

Ride the legendary O Quy Ho Pass, explore spectacular rice terraces, and discover the rich cultures of the H'Mong and Thai ethnic communities.

Leaving Sapa for Mu Cang Chai for the breathtaking journey again through the heart of northern Vietnam’s mountain landscapes, terraced rice fields, and ethnic minority villages. This route offers some of the most scenic views in northern Vietnam, making it a favorite for motorbike-riding adventurers and nature lovers.

The climate is still cool, and with beautiful terraced rice paddies, the road soon ascends into the mountains. Shortly after leaving Sapa, we’ll encounter the O Quy Ho Pass, one of Vietnam’s most famous mountain passes. At over 2,000 meters above sea level, it offers spectacular views of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range and plunging valleys.

Riding toward Mu Cang Chai, the route takes us through traditional villages with sweeping views of terraced fields. A village like Than Uyen is rich in local culture, and its fields create mesmerizing patterns that change with the season.

Arriving in Mu Cang Chai, you’ll find some of the most picturesque terraced rice fields in Vietnam. Recognized as a National Heritage Site, these terraces are particularly stunning during the rice-growing seasons of May to June, when fields are lush and green, and September to October is the harvest time when it turns golden. This area is ideal for photography and short hikes to capture the beauty of the landscape.

Throughout the journey, we’ll encounter people from the H'mong and Thai ethnic groups, known for their traditional clothing, distinct dialects, and unique farming methods. Visiting the local markets and interacting with the villagers offers a glimpse into their daily lives and cultural heritage. We arrive at Mu Cang Chai around 4 pm.

DAY 8: MU CANG CHAI  → PHU YEN: 187 KM

Ride through remote mountain passes, explore the peaceful valleys of Son La Province, visit traditional tea plantations, and experience authentic rural life in Northern Vietnam.

After breakfast, we leave the spectacular rice terraces of Mu Cang Chai and continue our Northern Vietnam Motorbike Loop through some of the most peaceful and least-visited regions of Northwest Vietnam.

Today's ride takes us along scenic mountain roads winding through lush valleys, forested hills, and traditional ethnic minority communities. As we leave the high mountains behind, the landscape gradually changes, revealing rolling hills, fertile farmland, and quiet countryside rarely seen by international travelers.

Throughout the day, we'll enjoy a series of beautiful mountain passes and panoramic viewpoints overlooking rivers, valleys, and remote villages. This section of the journey offers a more relaxed riding experience, allowing you to fully appreciate the natural beauty and authentic atmosphere of Northern Vietnam.

Continuing toward Phu Yen in Son La Province, we pass through vast tea-growing regions where green tea plantations blanket the surrounding hillsides. We stop to visit a local tea plantation, where you'll learn about traditional tea cultivation and processing methods while enjoying the peaceful scenery that makes this region famous among tea producers.

The route also provides opportunities to observe daily life in rural Vietnam, with farmers working in the fields and local communities maintaining traditional lifestyles that have changed little over generations.

Arriving in Phu Yen in the late afternoon, you'll discover a quiet town surrounded by mountains and fertile valleys. Far from the main tourist routes, Phu Yen offers a genuine glimpse into local life and serves as an ideal stop before continuing deeper into Northern Vietnam.

Today's ride combines scenic mountain roads, tea plantations, beautiful valleys, and authentic cultural encounters, making it another rewarding day of the Hanoi Motorbike Loop.

DAY 9: PHU YEN  → MAI CHAU: 170 KM

From the Da River to the Peaceful Valley of Mai Chau

Today offers one of the most scenic rides of the journey as we travel from Phu Yen to the beautiful Mai Chau Valley. Leaving Phu Yen behind, we follow winding mountain roads alongside the Da River, enjoying spectacular views of the river, surrounding mountains, and peaceful rural landscapes.

After crossing the Da River by local ferry, we continue climbing toward the Moc Chau Plateau, a region famous for its rolling tea plantations, dairy farms, and cool mountain climate. Following lunch in Moc Chau, we take the quiet Hua Tat mountain road, a historic route originally built during the French colonial period and now known for its stunning scenery and minimal traffic.

In the late afternoon, we arrive in Mai Chau Valley, one of Northern Vietnam's most picturesque destinations. Surrounded by lush rice fields and towering mountains, Mai Chau is home to the Thai ethnic people and their traditional stilt houses. Take time to relax, explore the peaceful villages, and experience the warm hospitality of the local community.

DAY 10: MAI CHAU RETURNS TO HA NOI: 140 KM

Farewell to the Mountains, Return to Hanoi

After an incredible 10-day motorbike adventure through Northern Vietnam, today is our final ride back to Hanoi. Although the distance is shorter, there are still plenty of beautiful landscapes and interesting stops to enjoy along the way.

Leaving the peaceful valley of Mai Chau, we ride through scenic countryside roads surrounded by rolling hills and traditional farming villages. Our first major stop is Hoa Binh Lake, one of the largest artificial lakes in Vietnam, where you can admire the stunning limestone mountains and countless islands scattered across the water.

We then visit the impressive Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, a landmark that played an important role in Vietnam's economic development and remains one of the largest hydroelectric projects in Southeast Asia.

Continuing toward Hanoi, we stop at Cun Pass for a coffee break and enjoy panoramic views over the valleys and mountains below. Take some time to relax, capture your final photos, and reflect on the unforgettable journey through Vietnam's most spectacular landscapes.

In the afternoon, we follow quiet countryside roads before reaching Hanoi, arriving before the busy rush hour and marking the end of our motorbike adventure together.

• Easy Rider passengers will ride on Honda Winner 150cc, Honda XR150, or other reliable, larger-displacement motorcycles that are well-suited to these mountain passes and winding roads, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey.
• No scooters are used on this tour.
• Self-riding motorcycles are available for an additional rental fee.
• For self-riding guests, we recommend bringing your own riding gear, including a jacket, pants, gloves, and appropriate shoes or boots, as the sizes of our protective equipment may not be suitable for everyone.
• Guests wishing to self-ride should hold a valid International Driving Permit (IDP – 1968 Convention) together with the appropriate motorcycle licence from their home country. Some licenses may not be valid in Vietnam. Please contact us for guidance on how to ride legally in Vietnam if your license is not valid. 
• Citizens from all Southeast Asian countries can legally ride a motorbike in Vietnam using their valid domestic motorcycle license. There is no need to convert it to an International Driving Permit (IDP), according to the ASEAN agreement on mutual recognition of driving licenses among Southeast Asian countries.
