EASY RIDER 21 DAYS FROM SAIGON TO HA NOI VIA HO CHI MINH TRAIL

TOUR DESCRIPTION

Day 1: SAI GON→ DONG XOAI – 150KM

Leave the busy of HCMC for Dong Xoai in the morning, The highlight of this day is the Cu Chi tunnel, a historical area that shows how Vietnamese soldiers against American and Vietnam southern soldiers in the war. After understanding all of the histories in this land, you can try to get into the tunnel crawling or shutting the gun( optional activity cost). 

Riding to the countryside road for lunch then visit the broken bridge which was used for killing people during the French and American war and our guide will explain to you the history of this area. Relaxing on the hammock for a cup of coffee before getting back on our bike to Dong Xoai town.

DAY 2:  DONG XOAI→ GIA NGIA – 140KM 

Leaving Dong Xoai, visit a cocoa plantation and head to the Ho Chi Minh trail where you can learn more about the civil war of Vietnam between the northern and southern governments before 1975. Go along the border belt between Vietnam and Cambodia and visit another hill tribe group

Visit the cashew factory or rubber plantation then at the end of the day, you will visit the soldier cemetery before check-in at the hotel.

DAY 3: GIA NGHIA → BAO LOC – 120KM

Taking the stunning mountain view go to Bao Loc town which is the biggest tea plantation in Vietnam growing during the French period. Visit Ta Dung Lake which is called the second of Ha Long Bay on the mountain, Stop at some local houses to see how people grow mushrooms inside the plastic bag or broom making( seasonal). Then hit Bao Loc town for a night.

DAY 4: BAO LOC → DALAT – 122 KM

After breakfast and a cup of coffee, we are going to visit the most beautiful waterfall in Bao Loc - Dambri Waterfall where you can do the longest roller coaster in Vietnam down to the waterfall to visit, spend, and relax here for a couple of hours. Keep going to Dalat we will visit the incense-making and pepper plantation, then visit the second biggest Zen monastery pagoda and the old railway station before going to our homestay in Dalat.

DAY 5: DALAT →  LAK LAKE – 160 KM 

Head to the breathtaking countryside road Dalat to see the beautiful landscapes and visit to the coffee plantation where you will try to taste different types of coffee like Robusta, Arabica, or weasel animal coffee.

After visiting the coffee farms, continue your journey to a local family where you are able to try the taste of the strongest traditional homemade rice wine. The next destination we will visit to the silk worm factory and see how the workers make silk products from the worms.

After that, we will visit the Elephant Waterfall, which is the most beautiful waterfall in this area. Close to the fall is the Buddhist Temple, a huge Happy Buddha statue and the highest Lady Buddha statue ( 74 meters high) in the south where you will enjoy your time and get a deeper understanding of Buddhism through our guides. Stop for lunch in the middle of the mountain road.

Relax and continue our motorbike trip through the stunning mountain roads and stop in the flooding village.

DAY 6: LAK LAKE → BUON MA THUOT (BMT CITY)- 120 KM

Wake up early 6 am in the morning for the dug-out canoe trip to feel the beauty of the second natural lake in Vietnam for half an hour (depending on the wind). After this short trip, we will go back to the hotel for breakfast and pack our luggage for another day ride to BMT City. Before leaving the wildlife of Lak Lake to BMT City, don’t miss your chance to know more about the local culture of the M'nong people in this village, our tour guide will try their best to explain to you about their life, history and how they can earn money to live. 

Continue riding to Draysap waterfall for swimming, we will have an option to go to the local market to buy fresh chicken – baguettes for a picnic lunch in the national park or restaurant. After swimming, we will walk about 15 minutes through the national park to see another beautiful waterfall.

Keep going to BMT city, we stop to see the mushroom farm ( seasonal), incense making and cocoa plantation then hit the capital city of the central highland.

DAY 7: BMT CITY → CHUSE: 140 KM

Before moving out of Coffee’s capital to Chuse, we will visit the Dak Lak Cultural and Historical Museum (which closes on Monday). Continuing our Easy Rider journey and stop at the rubber plantation. Having lunch at the local restaurant in the middle of the day and taking a rest on the hammock. Visit Phu Cuong waterfall to relax for a while here

Stop at some small villages on the way to know about the living of the local people on this mountain land and continue riding to Chuse.

DAY 8: CHUSE → KONTUM 110 KM

Our journey continues rolling on the Ho Chi Minh trail to the Sea Lake “The Eyes of Pleiku”, here is a good place to take pictures and feel nature, then visit a tea farm and Buddhist temple.

Kontum, a small and peaceful land by the Dkbla River, is a virgin land with pristine nature and intact hill-tribe cultures such as the Bahnar, the J’rai and the Sedan. The town also still retains vestiges of ancient cathedral architecture such as the wooden church (where the local orphanage lives) you can buy some gifts or candies for these kids here and play with them for a while.

After visiting the church, we are going to visit another group of ethnic people at Kon Katu village and walk around to see the special Rong house, beautiful river and local life, then go to the hotel.

DAY 9: KONTUM → PHUOC SON –180 KM

Visit the local market early in the morning and discover the daily life of Vietnamese people or the river bank before living in Kontum. Stop at the war monument where you can see the VC (Vietnam Communist) tanks, which was used to fight against the American and Southern government during the war. The old Phoenix Airport, Charlie Hill was also a battlefield during the war.

DAY 10: PHUOC SON → HOI AN –140 KM

Continue on Ho Chi Minh road to visit Chu Ru village and waterfall, take a rest at the pineapple fruit farm and try some pineapple or local chicken eggs or coffee. Then, go to visit The Cao Dai temple, a Vietnamese religion and incense making. Arrive at Hoi An around 5:00 pm.

Day 11: HOI AN → HUE – 150 KM

Hoian to Hue via Hai Van pass will show you one of the most beautiful landscapes in Vietnam, which every traveler must do when they travel in this amazing country. We want to make sure that you will enjoy the best stunning view of mountains, beaches, waterfalls, and lagoon and know more about the cultures of Vietnam as well.

In the morning, we will ride a long ocean way to visit Marble Mountain, explore cave, pagoda, and sculptures made by hand from passion stone.

Then we take you along My Khe beach, where not only voted as one of the most beautiful coastlines in Vietnam but is also very famous as a military base of both the French and American armies when they started to fight here.

We will travel through Hai Van Pass which means “Sea of Cloudy Pass”, where you will be literally surrounded by clouds with stunning ocean views, we can admire the beautiful panorama, and enjoy a number of the most glorious landscapes in Vietnam. After lunch, we will continue to Dream Waterfall where you can relax and swim. Then we ride along Highway 1 A to visit the Tam Giang lagoon, where you will see a local fishing village and trek around the lagoon. Here you’ll get to meet locals and see how they live and work before arriving in Hue.

DAY 12: HUE → DONG HOI – 171 KM

Come to the Vinh Moc tunnels and stop in the DMZ battlefield to understand more about the Civil War of Vietnam before 1975. Before going to Dong Hoi town, we will continue rolling on the Ho Chi Minh trail to visit Hamburger Hill (war history vestige) and see the spectacular scenery of the northern Truong Son range.

DAY 13: DONG HOI  → PHONG NHA  – 50 KM

In the morning, we will take a long mountain ride to Phong Nha and discover the most beautiful World Heritage site in Phong Nha. With a day free to explore Phong Nha National Park, we will take a boat ride into the dark cave and enjoy the kayak through caves then immerse ourselves in the mud bath. After all these activities we will take lunch on the way to another cave. In the afternoon we will take another boat trip to the magnificent Paradise limestone cave, the second-longest wet limestone cave in the world, and then trek through this amazing old-growth rainforest. On the way back our guide will stop you at the time of sunset to relax and take some pictures here then we will ride back to our hotel.

DAY 14: PHONG NHA  → TAN KY- 280 KM

After breakfast, we will take our motorcycles down the historical trail to South Vietnam, a peaceful town surrounded by impressive mountains. Visit a group of hill tribe villages on the way and enjoy the view of the mountain.

DAY 15: TAN KY → MAI CHAU – 290 KM

By the following day, we will leave Tan Ky and head to Mai Chau. We will ride through the bamboo groves that line the Ma River. After eating lunch in Cam Thuy, we continue our ride to Mai Chau, where the renowned Ho Chi Minh Trail's KM 0 began.

During the war, Milestone 0 km was the beginning of the legendary Ho Chi Minh trail. This was a meeting place for food supplies and weaponry for the Vietnam War soldiers fighting in the South. We spend the night at the hotel in Mai Chau.

DAY 16: MAI CHAU → TO PHU YEN– 157 KM

This day, we conquered the Ho Chi Minh Trail by motorbike bringing us to Phu Yen to have lunch. We then travel to Moc Chau, surrounded by extensive green tea plantations stretching as far as the eye can see covering numerous rolling green hills as far as the eye can see.

The region is also home to stunning traditional Vietnamese hill tribe communities and is particularly well-known for its abundance of exquisite flowers.

DAY 17: PHU YEN →  MU CANG CHAI → THAN UYEN – 220 KM

On day 17th, we depart Phu Yen in the morning and head to Mu Cang Chai. This area seems like a gem since it is tucked away in one of the Red River's deep valleys, where mountain towns and terraced crops coexist.

After lunch, we cross Lung La Pass, a rocky and perilous mountain pass road with a long and magnificent history.

 Today will be one of the longest rides but it is one of the most amazing motorcycle rides. Stop at some villages on the way to see the local traditional life. Finish our long day at around 5:00 pm.

DAY 18: THAN UYEN TO SAPA – 120 KM   

Goodbye, Sapa our motorcycle journey continues to Sapa, we will ride through O Quy Ho Pass, the most difficult and tortuous pass in the Northwest mountains, with perilous bends.

Then stop at the pass stop, we will see the boundless vastness of the Northwest sky. At 4:00 p.m., we will arrive at Sapa and have dinner at the hotel.

DAY 19: EXPLORING SAPA THROUGH VILLAGES – 80 KM

We spend a relaxed third morning in Sapa exploring. Take a stroll through Sapa town visiting the local people's market where hordes of sellers dressed in traditional attire from the Dao, Tay, and Thai tribes congregate.

Then we take a quick journey to Silver Waterfall and have lunch there. We spend the remaining the seeing the tribes of minority communities such as the Cat Cat and Ta Phin. These villages are still relatively unaffected, allowing us to look closely at the various Vietnamese tribes and their varied lifestyles and cultures.

On our return to our homestay, we will enjoy one of the most heartwarming group dinners with special hot pots of Sapa prepared with loving care by our hosts.

 DAY 20: SAPA → THAC BA – 230 KM

After breakfast, we will walk around Thac Ba waterfall and travel to Thac Ba. Along the way, you will see rural Vietnam's broad, verdant countryside stretched out before you through several patches of mountain fog.

Our modest convoy travels through dozens of remote towns filled with happy, waving children, crossing knee-deep rivers and thin mountain routes to climb and descend. We arrive at a hotel in Thac Ba at the end of the day.

DAY 21: THAC BA LAKE TO HA NOI – 160 KM

Thac Ba Lake is one of Vietnam's biggest man-made lakes and was constructed in 1970 as part of the Chay River hydropower plant project. There are 13 ethnic minorities living in the area around the lake, including the Tay, Mong, Nung, Phu La, Cao Lan, and Dao.

Taking the boat trip around the lake to enjoy nature and keep going to Ha Noi and the end of our 21-day journey.
